The Weston Philharmonic Society, founded in 1997, does much more than simply present world-class musicians in concert. We also promote music appreciation to all ages.In addition to presenting symphony orchestras, we support and promote a variety of musical genres including jazz and pops concerts and even classical guitar. This year the organization’s primary focus will be on the youth of Weston. In light of the budget cuts and schools eliminating arts and music programs, we would like to fill that gap and bring more music into the schools.
We plan to expand our In Schools Music Program this year, which last year reached an estimated 10,000 students in the Weston public schools. This year we plan to expand the number of schools in which we will offer our program.
A key component of our mission is to enhance the exposure of our children to fine music. Through our In Schools Music Program, we have offered mini operas to elementary school students and a Meet the Musicians program for older students.
By bringing professional musicians into the classroom, students are introduced to various instruments and musical styles.
It is said that many professional musicians say they were inspired by something they saw or heard as a child. Who knows, perhaps tomorrow’s famous musician is being inspired by one of our presentations.
The Society further supports the Weston schools by donating musical instruments and other equipment, as well as awarding scholarships to high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in music.
These concerts and other events are made possible through support from the City of Weston and Weston Philharmonic Society sponsors. Sponsorships range from $500 on up to Title Sponsor at $10,000.
You don’t have to be a big sponsor to support the Weston Philharmonic Society. You can support the arts in our community by becoming a member. Annual membership is $40 for individuals and $65 for families. If you would like more information about Sponsorship, membership or serving as a volunteer, please contact us at info@westonphilharmonic.com.
Thank you.
